Critical upgrades Moor Farm roundabout upgrades move closer
This week National Highways begin consultation on upgrades to Moor Farm roundabout following the announcement in March that the upgrades would go ahead as part of the next Road Investment Strategy.
Emma Foody, Member of Parliament for Cramlington and Killingworth, led the campaign in Parliament to secure the upgrades – holding debates, meeting with Ministers and National Highways and building support from local people and businesses to secure the much needed investment.
Between 16th March and 28th July, National Highways will be consulting on two proposals for the upgrades to Moor Farm, with a series of in-person drop in events and an online consultation. The consultation will include drop in events at the Community Hub in Cramlington and the John Willie Sams Centre in Dudley over the coming weeks, as well as opportunities to view the plans at local libraries and online.
As the consultation on the plans opens, the Member of Parliament is encouraging local people and businesses to get involved. Emma Said:
“For too long, Moor Farm has caused misery for local residents, and has held back investment and opportunities for our communities I pushed hard for this investment at every opportunity.
“Thanks to the campaign, proposals for Moor Farm are progressing. This is the first project around the country in the new pipeline to begin consultation, marking an important milestone.
“These upgrades are a real game changer for our region and so it is vital that people have their says on the options and feedback on the proposals. As well as the drop in events, you can do this online or by writing to National Highways, with all the information on the National Highways website or available in local libraries.
“I continue to meet with National Highways, including last week, and will also be feeding back the views expressed to me as part of the consultation”.
