Tribute To Former Cramlington Town Councillor Ann Mitcheson
Emma Foody MP and Cramlington Town Councillor Feona Bowey this week unveiled a memorial bench in honour of the late Labour Cramlington Town Councillor Ann Mitcheson, a dedicated and much-loved community champion whose tireless work left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Born in East Hartford, Ann spent her whole life in Cramlington, representing Cramlington Town Council’s East Hartford Ward from 2009 when the ward was formed. Before her time in Cramlington she had previously given many years of service on Blyth Valley Council including a period as Deputy Mayor.
Ann was a highly respected councillor, committed to local politics and serving local people, with a dedication to Cramlington. The bench was funded by local Labour Party members and was installed in Mayfield Cemetery, as a commemoration to her incredible impact as a councillor and as a person.
Allan Hepple, Chair of Cramlington and Killingworth Labour Party said: “Ann was a well loved local councillor rooted in her community who will be sadly missed by local people, friends and her local Labour Party”.
Emma Foody MP added, “I was absolutely honoured to visit Ann’s bench and hear again about her incredible work in Cramlington. Ann was tireless in her efforts to improve the lives of residents of East Hartford, and as a result, earned the respect and fondness of the community.’
“Ann will continue to be an inspiration to those of us who were elected to serve Cramlington and the surrounding areas after her.”
