Cramlington & Killingworth constituency MP’s Community Awards
Our constituency is full of incredible people, community groups, young people and local businesses who go above and beyond to make a difference every day. I want to celebrate the people who help make our communities such special places to live, work and grow up.
There are four award categories:
👏 Community Champion of the Year
🤝 Community Group of the Year
🏪 Local Business of the Year
🌟 Young Community Changemaker of the Year
Do you know someone who deserves recognition? Whether it’s a volunteer who always goes the extra mile, a community group bringing people together, a local business giving back or a young person making a real difference, I want to hear about them.

Catherine Muckle control and move fitness cic
Catherine works tirelessly trying to help children in her classes enjoy themselves while also making sure they learn some discipline
She is also trying to open Beacon Hill Community to become a centre that is used by the community while trying to involve the community
Helen Hindson of Seghill. She is involved in Seghill Food Bank, East Cramlington Squirrels and Seghill Gala. AND litter picks all over the village.
I would like to nominate Graham Cairns for his dedication running the mini football teams at cramlimgton Juniors football club. He trains the teams every week without fail and atranges
Football matches for all the young players.
He used to play for the juniors so now in his thirties gives something back to the young people in the cramlington community
Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project, they are a youth group who are in the heart of Cramlington which has developed over the years into a leading group for youth work in our community. They work with young people of Cramlington engaging with them on our streets and in their purpose built building in Cramlington Village, they work together with the young people in the project covering a variety of issues if required or simply being a safe place for the young people to come together.
I nominate Maxine Palmer, owner of Tea Cake Max, Holywell. Maxine set up her business in a disused shop, middle of the village, about seven years ago, throughout which she has been a force for good and has on many occasions supplied free meals to those in need. Sociable, communicative and otherwise brilliant, she has added zest to our community. She is a star.
My nomination for Community Group of the Year is the Friends of Valley Park in Cramlington. The group maintains the woodland area to the south of the Southfield Green and Southfield Lea estates. Tirelessly organised by a hard working committee in conjunction with the local authority, weekly working parties maintain the walkways, stream and ponds to make them accessible for all including wheelchair users. Undergrowth is managed and trees maintained for the benefit of users and the abundant wildlife. Events are arranged throughout the year such as open days, Halloween, Easter and other treasure hunt activities for families. Information on flora and fauna is posted on notice boards which has generated into a fantastic educational resource..
Without doubt the Friends of Valley Park are true champions in the area. Good luck to them!
